It’s been a great year at WindFarm Marketing, and we just wanted to take a minute to tell you about some of our favorite things. We present to you, the WindFarm Best of 2013 Year in Review!
Event
“Inbound 2013 put on by Hubspot in August catapulted WindFarm into becoming a certified partner and on the path to becoming an inbound agency. Seth Godin, the Hubspot COS, hanging out in Boston with our partner media junction, and getting to hear One Republic were the highlights for me.” -Josh
Thought Leader
“I’m probably always going to say Seth Godin. He continually inspires me.” -Beka
“I really like Brian Clark over at Copyblogger.” -Devon
“Jon Loomer always has great insights. His blogs are clear and almost eerily timely.” – Jacob
Book
“Re-work from Jason Friedman, an easy but helpful read for me in 2013. Basically a collection of practical advice for making the way we work more effective and less distracting so we can accomplish more and have more time.” – Josh
“I’m a sucker for historical fiction. This summer I read ‘The Storyteller’ by Jodi Picoult and couldn’t put it down. I loved how she intertwined the agonizing story of a young girl in a concentration camp during WWII with a young women in modern times who is dealing with her own demons.” – Ashley
Film
“The Croods. Because I spend most of my time outside of work with kids under 9.” – Josh
“Captain Phillips. Talk about a nail-biter!” – Ashley
“‘Frozen.’ I am a sucker for Disney Movies, and I loved sharing it with my daughter!” – Devon
“Captain Phillips was engrossing and had great characters. But, I love anything maritime related.” – Jacob
TV Show
“I thought the ending of Breaking Bad was pretty epic storytelling. Definitely one of the better TV moments of 2013.” -Beka
“Scandal is my favorite! So much drama!” – Devon
“The Walking Dead has been the only show I’ve kept up on this year, and that’s because it’s fantastic.” – Jacob
Quote
“Jon Buscall’s ‘Content marketing is not a campaign, it’s a commitment.’” -Josh
“‘The administration does not support blowing up planets,’ by Paul Shawcross, chief of science and space in the White House Office of Management and Budget, rejecting a viral petition for the creation of a national-defense ‘Death Star.’” – Jacob
“Basically anything Jennifer Lawrence said all year long.” -Beka
Accomplishment
“I learned to shoot an arrow, go fly fishing, and gut, scale, and fillet a fish–all stuff on my survival skills list. Also got to visit Facebook HQ with a few WindFarmers, which was so inspiring and educational. Oh, and I planted my first veggie garden, too!” – Beka
“After several hours of video training and tutorials, I graduated from the Facebook Studio Edge! I am so impressed with how Facebook is leveraging their unique platform for businesses and wish I could have accompanied my WindFarm team members to Facebook HQ this summer! Perhaps we can take another road trip there in 2014.” – Ashley
“Completed my Google Analytics certification.” -Jacob
Moment
“It was so wonderful celebrating 15 years with our friends and partner Keaton Raphael Memorial at their Inaugural Gala event in September. I felt so honored to be a part of their celebration and am looking forward to the amazing things happening for them in 2014!” – Ashley
“Easily, generating over $130K in sales within a single month for our client California Family Fitness. 2014 is going to be insane for them (and all our clients!)” – Josh
“My favorite moment with my kids this year was when my daughter Grace started Kindergarten, because it was such a huge milestone.” -Devon
Internet Wonder
“I have to say learning how to seed a pomegranate in 10 seconds was a pretty amazing thing I learned on the Internet this year. Thank you, Lifehacker.” -Beka
“I watched a great video recently that my aunt shared on Facebook. It was an a-mazing marching band that had some unbelievably difficult routines!” – Ashley
“See Beka’s; it’s mine too. With 4 kids addicted to pomegranates, it easily took hours of stress out of the process every month.” – Josh
WFM Marketing Campaign
“The Better Together Whole Foods Cross-Promotion Campaign – Our first campaign with a Whole Foods location. ‘The best marketing investment I’ve ever spent’ was the response from the store’s marketing manager. This led to 3 additional stores wanting to work with WindFarm on cross-promotion campaigns with our clients.” – Josh
“The More the Merrier 3 Park Giveaway Cross-Promotion Campaign with our client, Funderland Amusement Park and the William Land Park crew – the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town. It was so fun working with these family-oriented businesses, and we had amazing engagement with fans on Facebook who wanted to win the grand prize!” – Ashley
“The Keaton Campaign was a favorite for me, because it was bringing attention and support to the important work they do.” -Devon
